A Feast of Flavours and Unexpected Tuk-Tuk Experience

Who would have ever imagined that the first international trading port of Thailand would become a stylish meeting point of Bangkok.  The riverfront destination – free ferry or cheap tuk tuk ride to get there – is an array of unique shopping stores, a ferris wheel and entertainment venues, and multi-ethnic restaurants.

We took the ferry at sunset under a full moon, and perused all the restaurants before settling on Hoegarden.  Not only was the German bier cold and crisp, but the food choices were a delectable mix of seafood, duck and seasonal vegetables.  Anything but the German bangers and mash the name conjured up.

After dinner we elected to take a Tuk Tuk to the gay bar district in Silom on Soi 4.  We found a wild-looking taxi and driver who gave us a thrilling, wharp-speed ride through the crowded streets.

After a little bargaining, he took our photos and a few shortcuts to get us their in a memorable drive.  In the end we paid his asking price with a smile!
