Thirsty 4 Travel: Rooftop Bars in Bangkok

Deetouring with Dee in Thailand

Rooftop Bars abound in Bangkok, but none are as good as Moon Bar at Vertigo Restaurant on the 52nd level of the  Banyon Tree Hotel.

The Moon Bar is a must-do if you want amazing views of the animated city and its lifeblood Chao Phraya River.

The Moon Bar is a must-do if you want amazing views of the animated city and its lifeblood Chao Phraya River.

Banyon Tree Bangkok, lying in the heart of the central business and embassy district, claims the honour of “most popular” rooftop restaurant and bar.

Still jet lagged, I made the short walk from my hotel to Vertigo and Moon Bar on my first night in the capital. The sunset did not disappoint and the cocktail service was fantastic.

Get there early to cue up to the railing for the best sunset  photo spot, then sit down and enjoy the tasty snacks with a cold one.  Needless to say, this is a great overview spot to help orient you on Night 1 in the “Land of Smiles.”

My rating: picture postcard perfect – if you’re not afraid of heights. Vertigo Restaurant is on the 51st floor and you walk up half a flight to the Moon Bar to overlook the city and river landscape.
